 Select thin client software provides support for IP cameras. For example, ThinManager's highly customizable program lets the operator choose the options that best fit the application. Most IP Cameras that conform to the mjpeg (motion jpeg) are supported.
Multiple Viewing Options
There are several viewing options to choose from; a single camera display, several camera's with multiple displays or, as an overlay in an existing application. Define custom layouts of the camera overlays or choose from predefined layouts.
Advantages
IP camera support gives the operator the ability to see other places in the line or factory. Use it to expand the line of vision on the production line or as a security tool to monitor loading docks, parking lots and more. Customizable IP camera support makes it easy to define and deploy a wide variety of readily available cameras.
Normal Setup
1. Configure the camera with an IP address to add to network.
2. Define it as a display server with a few clicks of the mouse.
3. Finally, deploy it as a window or as part of a group of windows.
In the figure below, we have an HMI showing an oven with an IP camera overlay. This allows for an operator to see other parts of the process line and watch for problems. In essence, it allows him to watch over two or more places at once.
